Privacy & Biometric Notice
Effective June 26, 2026 · Notice version 2026-06-26
1. Who we are
Findpic exists to answer the two questions photographers get asked most after an event: “where did the photos go?” and “how do I get mine?” — by letting you find photos of yourself instead of digging through galleries or waiting on someone.
This is an early, evolving service. We are deliberately building it around our values: genuinely useful for both the people in the photos and the photographers who make them, with privacy treated as a priority, not an afterthought. Things here will change as we learn, and this notice is kept honest about what Findpic actually does at any given time. Questions: info@findpic.co.
2. Searching, accounts & signing in
You find your photos by taking or uploading a selfie. You do not need an account to search — anyone can find themselves. To see all of your matches and keep the ones you want, you create a free Findpic account: your name and email (a phone number is optional). You sign in with a one-time link sent to your email — there is no password.
3. Your selfie & face matching (biometric data)
To find your photos you choose to provide a selfie. We scan it to compute a numeric description of your facial geometry (a mathematical vector — not a stored picture) and compare that to faces in the photos photographers have put into Findpic, so we can show you the ones you appear in.
We ask for your explicit consent before each scan, and you can read this notice first. Your selfie is processed in memory for that single search and is not saved or stored — it is never added to a database, never used to identify you elsewhere, and never sold or shared. The one exception is if you choose to turn on match alerts, described next.
4. Optional match alerts — your choice
If you want, you can ask Findpic to tell you when you appear in new photos. Only if you turn this on do we keep a face signature (the numeric vector — still not a photo), and only to match you against new uploads. It is never shared, it auto-expires, and you can delete it instantly in your settings — turning the feature off deletes it. If you don't turn it on, no face data of yours is kept after your search.
5. The photos and the people in them
Photos are provided by photographers. To make matching work we derive face descriptors from the faces in those photos. These exist only inside that photographer's catalog within Findpic and are removed when the photographer's photos are removed. If you appear in photos and have a request, contact us or the photographer.
6. What we record
- Your account — your name and email, and a phone number if you choose to give one, so you can return to your photos.
- The photos we matched you to. When you create an account from a search, we save the list of photos we matched you to — not your face — so your account can show them without you searching again.
- Orders. When you obtain a photo — whether you pay or the photographer set it as free — we record your email, which photos, the amount (which may be $0), and the date. The photographer can see this for their own albums; we share it with no one else.
- Your consent record — your email (where we have it), which version of this notice you agreed to, and when. No name and no face data are ever part of it.
- A face signature — only if you turned on match alerts (§4), and only until it expires or you delete it.
7. Cookies & local storage
We keep this minimal. Findpic uses only the cookies and on-device storage it needs to work, plus cookieless analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics — no cookies, no personal profile). There is no advertising, no cross-site tracking, and no data brokering, so there is nothing here to sell or trade. What we store on your device:
- Sign-in session — keeps you signed in after you log in. Essential.
- Consent memory — remembers that you've seen and agreed to this notice, so we don't ask on every search.
- Returning-visitor hint — a simple flag so we can offer “welcome back, sign in” instead of assuming you're new.
- Your cart and your last search results — kept in your browser so the photos you picked are still there as you move between pages.
These are first-party and functional. We don't use them to follow you around the web.
8. We do not sell your data — and how Findpic makes money
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. To be clear about incentives: Findpic's revenue is intended to come only from photographers' and event organizers' use of the service, and from people buying their own photos — never from data about you. We rely on infrastructure providers (such as Cloudflare for content delivery and cookieless analytics) that process data only on our behalf, and we disclose data only where genuinely required by law.
9. Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Your photos and account are behind sign-in, and we take reasonable measures to protect data at rest.
10. Retention & deletion
Selfies are not retained — they are processed in memory only — unless you turn on match alerts, in which case the face signature is kept until it auto-expires or you delete it. You can delete your whole account and its data from your settings at any time, or email info@findpic.co.
When you delete your account, we remove your profile, your saved matches, your follows, your face signature (if any), and your proof selections. We also remove your personal details from any past orders — the photographer keeps a record that a delivery happened (date, amount, which photos), but it is no longer tied to you. The photos you actually obtained stay available to you, and you keep them.
If a photographer deletes an album you bought or downloaded from, the specific photos you obtained are kept so you can still download them from your orders; the rest of that album is removed. Face descriptors derived from photographers' photos are removed when those photos are removed. One thing we keep on purpose is the minimal consent record itself, as proof that consent was given and honored.
11. Children
Findpic is not directed to children under 13. You may only upload a selfie if you are 18 or older, or have a parent/guardian's permission.
12. Changes
Because this is an evolving service, this notice will change. We will revise the effective date and version above, and for material changes to how we handle your selfie or face data we will ask for your consent again before the change applies to you.
